Mentorship to Level Up

You’ve got the skills to write code, but something’s holding you back. Maybe you’re feeling stuck or unsure if you belong. Or maybe you just need someone to help keep you accountable to your goals.

That’s where I come in! I’ve been a professional software engineer since 2009. I’ve worked across several industries including EdTech, e-commerce, and platform integrations. I’ve led development teams, mentored engineers, and spent years answering questions across various communities. If you’re interested, you can read more here, but needless to say, I’ve worn many hats 😁.

Now I’d to offer that focused support directly to you.

How It Works

This is a personalized partnership focused entirely on your goals. Unlike courses or tutorials that follow a fixed path, our work together is driven by what you need:

  • Technical growth: Discuss advanced patterns, ask dumb questions, improve every day
  • Career navigation: Prepare for promotions, interviews, or pivoting to new opportunities
  • Accountability: Stay on track with regular check-ins and structured goal setting

We will realize your growth through a variety of techniques:

  • Goal setting: We always start here, in order to improve we need to know where to go
  • Regular meetings: Video calls focused on your current challenges and growth
  • Async support: Please email me questions between sessions
  • In-depth discussions: There are plenty of resources out there, let’s discuss to see how to apply them now
  • Coding exercises: Let’s build something! Good software engineering requires practice
  • Code review: You’re going to read more code than you write, it’s worth improving our skill

Lastly, you pay at the end of the month. If you haven’t gotten the value you were hoping for, you don’t owe me anything.

Who It’s For

This mentoring is a good fit if you:

  • Are a mid-level developer who wants to feel like a senior
  • Want personalized guidance, not generic courses
  • Are serious about investing in your growth
  • Value having an experienced engineer in your corner

This probably isn’t for you if you’re just starting to learn programming or looking for CTO-level management coaching.

Pricing

There are two main options. It really depends on how often you’d like to meet. You pay at the end of the month and only if you’re happy with your progression.

Essentials

$250/month
  • 2 video calls per month
  • Async support (Signal, Discord, Email and/or Slack)

Pick this if you'll need some extra time to implement changes

Intensive

$500/month
  • Weekly video calls
  • Async support (Signal, Discord, Email and/or Slack)

Pick this if our work will be your main focus

Is this worth it?

The simplest answer is, you get to choose whether it’s worth it. You pay at the end of the month and only if you’re happy with your progression.

The more complex answer is, you’re investing in yourself. I can’t make you a better engineer by myself. You need to be more invested in your success than me. I want to help you achieve your goals, and I’m going to work dang hard to make that happen.

For a little context, there is prep-time and follow-up time I will be spending on both sides of our meetings. For every one of our meetings, I will be spending twice that time dedicated towards your improvement outside of it.

Beyond pure effort, I care quite a bit about helping others and self-improvement. It tends to be a recurring topic in my writing and what I like to talk about. I asked seven people to rank what I thought were my strongest traits. These were people who I have worked closely with or have a personal connection with. The top two by a significant margin were “reliable” and “empathetic”.

I can promise you that if we work together, I will do my absolute best to help you achieve your goals.

What to Expect

The first meeting is free. We’ll talk about where you are, where you want to go, and whether working together makes sense.

If we decide to work together, you can cancel anytime. You only pay when you’re getting value, not because you’re locked in.
